Spring of Life

So I finally managed to obtain 12 Scrolls of the Waters of Life Lost Art. This allows you to build 1 Spring of Life in your castle (You also need at least 1 Farm upgraded to level 10).

Each upgrade of the Spring of Life increases your food production by 5% (to a maximum of 25%). The first upgrade is relatively expensive at 8,500 Gold, 11,400 Iron and 24,500 Food. Food is not really that valuable of a resource in my opinion, so I'm not even going to upgrade it at this time.

Where I'm Currently At: So I am currently building up my army to find the minimum Offensive power you need to Raid each level battleground with 0 losses. I am at about 20k and I can now build Knights,  but I think I need to get to about 50k Offense before I start.

Next Article Chosen By You

Hey guys so I am having a little trouble thinking up new interesting/informative Stormfall related articles. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for my next post. It can really be anything related to Stormfall that you feel yourself or other players need help with or would like to see.

My Game Progress So Far: Currently I am level 42 and I am close to being able to research the Lost Arts of Waters of Life and Chivalry. The best units I can make right now are Nomads. My resource production is 830 Gold/Hr., 830 Iron/Hr. and 1480 Food/Hr.

Please comment with any ideas you come up with. I'm sure they will be great for the Stormfall community. Thanks!

Beginner's Guide

The number of monthly active Stormfall players has risen by almost 2 Million over the past few weeks. For this reason I thought it would be good to write up a beginner's guide for all new Stormfall players. I'll talk about things I wish I did differently and how to progress quickly and efficiently through the game.

Overview: So Stormfall is a RPG strategy game in which you can build up your empire and defeat other players and NPCs alike. You will have to train and upgrade units, complete quests and upgrade buildings in order to advance. You can play Stormfall at your leisure as it does not require a huge time commitment from its players.

Getting Started: When you first start out you will be under Novice Protection and no one will be able to attack your castle. You should definitely take this time to complete as many quests as possible. Quests not only serve as a tutorial for the game, they will also reward you with XP and resources required to advance through the game. You can find all available quests on the left side of your screen.

Resources: In my opinion, upgrading resource buildings is the most important thing you should do in Stormfall. You will need resources for training units, upgrading units, constructing/upgrading buildings, training lost arts etc. More specifically Iron and Gold are the most valuable resources, especially early on. I didn't really need much Food early on until I started building up an army. Be sure to check out 7 Ways To Get More Resources.

Protecting Your Units: As you continue to progress in Stormfall you will eventually lose your Novice Protection. This means that you will be vulnerable to attacks from other players. Higher level players could easily destroy your entire army in a single battle. For this reason you should really utilize the Protect Your Army Trick. I didn't know about this when I first started playing, but it would have saved me a lot of lost units.

Conclusion: By the time you reach Level 15 or so you should have a good enough grasp on the mechanics of Stormfall to create your own strategies. Researching new units in the Lost Arts area, upgrading units/buildings and completing quests will allow you to advance past your enemies. You can also read the articles here at the Stormfall Database to learn more tips about Stormfall.

How NOT To Raid

Alright so basically this person just finished the Uninvited Guest Quest and decided to attack me with his forces. He attacked me 3 times and really did not gain much except for some resources and experience points. I just want to show you guys why this is not really a good use of units.

The first Raid consisted of 3x Dragons 11x Wyverns, 81 Paladins, 45 Knights and some other units too. I didn't really have many defending units, except for 187 Level 13 Nomads, but I still managed to wipe out half of his attacking army.

He took out around half of my army, but only came away with a small amount of resources and 151 XP. If his goal was to wipe out my army he should have just chosen to besiege my castle instead.

After this first Raid, he decided to Raid me again. Note: I wasn't online at this time, but if I was I would have spent my store resources and used the Protect Army Trick.

The second Raid came shortly thereafter and in my opinion he gained even less this time around.

After the first Raid he should have seen how many units I had. Then he should have built up some more offensive units before attacking me again. Instead he just sent whatever remaining army he had immediately after.

He lost a lot more of his army, but only gained a little bit of resources and 75 XP. After this battle with little gain, I would have assumed he wouldn't attack again until later.

I was wrong.

You can see from the time of screenshots and the size of his army he attacked me again soon after the second Raid. This time he barely had enough army to do any damage and he failed to Raid my castle.

Overall he sent his entire army in 3 Raids and all he gained was about 250 XP and some Iron/Food. He did take out a lot my defending Nomads, but with my resource production I can build them back up a couple of days.

When you are deciding whether or not you should Raid someone, first make sure the Raid will be worthwhile. Read my Raiding Guide if you have not already. Generally when I Raid someone I make sure there are enough stored resources that I can steal.

My Battleground Raid Challenge!

Hey guys so I was a little bored in Stormfall and I just finished the Uninvited Guest Quest. I thought it would be fun to Raid Battlegrounds with my entire Offensive force plus the 5x Dragons and 25x Wyverns I got from doing the quest. I decided to keep going in a kind of Survival Challenge until my Army was defeated.

Things To Note:
- Battle Result Images are watermarked with "Stormfalldatabase.blogspot.com" (Sorry to do this, but my articles and images keep being stolen by bbgsite)
- My Paladins were upgraded to Level 13

The following are my full results from the Battlegrounds Raid Challenge:

Battleground Type: Ogre's Cave Level 14

Units Sent: 5x Dragons, 20x Wyverns, 1x Warlock, 1x Imperial Knight, 37x Wraiths, 425x Paladins, 1x Pikemen

Units Lost: 2x Wyverns, 4x Wraiths, 41x Paladins

Experience Gained: 134 XP

Spoils of War: 2x Skull Runes, 2141 Gold, 1425 Iron, 2332 Food, 1x Warlock

Not the greatest of Spoils of War, but I didn't lose THAT many units.

Battleground Type: Orcish Altar Level 15

Units Sent: 5x Dragons, 18x Wyverns, 2x Warlocks, 1x Imperial Knight, 33x Wraiths, 384x Paladins, 1x Pikemen

Units Lost: 1x Dragon, 3x Wyverns, 5x Wraiths, 60x Paladins

Experience Gained: 152 XP

Spoils of War: 2x Skull Runes, 2x Demons, 11x Warlocks

I was happy getting 11x Warlocks and 2x Demons, but overall it was a total loss in offensive power for me. Basically 10,000 lost and almost 8,000 gained from the 11x Warlocks.

Battleground Type: Catacombs Level 16

Units Sent: 4x Dragons, 15x Wyverns, 13x Warlocks, 1x Imperial Knight, 28x Wraiths, 324x Paladins, 1x Pikemen

Units Lost: 1x Dragon, 3x Wyverns, 3x Warlocks, 6x Wraiths, 67x Paladins

Experience Gained: 168 XP

Spoils of War: 2x Skull Runes, 2x Demons, 15x Warlocks

Similar to the previous Raid, I lost more than I gained. I gained 15x Warlocks (Almost 11k Offense), but I lost almost 14k Offense from my Units Lost. The 2x Demons was a nice bonus, but they will just be added to my Defense.

Battleground Type: Orc Encampment Level 17

Units Sent: 3x Dragons, 12x Wyverns, 25x Warlocks, 1x Imperial Knight, 22x Wraiths, 257x Paladins, 1x Pikemen

Units Lost: 1x Dragon, 4x Wyverns, 7x Warlocks, 7x Wraiths, 77x Paladins

Experience Gained: 178 XP

Spoils of War: 2x Skull Runes, 18x Necromancers (16k Offense)

This was surprisingly almost even for me. I lost about 17k in Offense, but I gained 16k Offense from the 18x Necromancers. Up until this point this was the best Spoils of War I had ever gotten from a Battleground Raid.

Battleground Type: Ogre's Cave Level 18

Units Sent: 2x Dragons, 8x Wyverns, 18x Warlocks, 18x Necromancers, 1x Imperial Knight, 15x Wraiths, 180x Paladins, 1x Pikemen

Units Lost: 1x Dragon, 3x Wyverns, 7x Warlocks, 7x Necromancers, 6x Wraiths, 67x Paladins

Experience Gained: 208 XP

Spoils of War: 2x Skull Runes, 1x Pikemen, 26,059 Food

I thought I was doing so well in the challenge up until this Level 18 Raid. I lost a great portion of my Army and all I got as Spoils of War was 1x Pikemen and some Food. 1x the worst Offensive Unit and the least valuable resource; I mean come on! This one really killed me in the Raid Challenge, but I had to keep going.

Battleground Type: Orcish Altar Level 19

Units Sent: 1x Dragons, 5x Wyverns, 11x Warlocks, 11x Necromancers, 1x Imperial Knight, 9x Wraiths, 113x Paladins, 2x Pikemen

Units Lost: 1x Dragon, 3x Wyverns, 6x Warlocks, 6x Necromancers, 1x Imperial Knight 5x Wraiths, 60x Paladins, 2x Pikemen

Experience Gained: 219 XP

Spoils of War: 2x Skull Runes, 10x Wyverns

What shocked me the most was that my 1x Pikemen lasted up until this point. He gained a Pikemen friend in the Level 18 Battleground and then finally died at the Level 19 Orcish Altar. Aside from that I gained 10x Wyverns (About 16k Offense), but lost about 20x Offense worth of units. Almost out of Paladins and with no Dragons left I continued on to Level 20.

Battleground Type: Catacombs Level 20

Units Sent: 12x Wyverns, 5x Warlocks, 5x Necromancers, 4x Wraiths, 53x Paladins

Units Lost: 12x Wyverns, 5x Warlocks, 5x Necromancers, 4x Wraiths, 53x Paladins

Experience Gained: 253 XP

Spoils of War: None

This level 20 Catacombs was the end of the road for me. I though I would at least get to level 21 with 50 Paladins and 12 Wyverns, but I was wrong. The only thing I gained from this battle was some XP. Hopefully you all can learn from this information when Raiding your own Battlegrounds.

Conclusion: While I did gain a decent amount of Units Raiding Levels 14-20, I never really "Gained" anything, but some resources, Skull Runes and XP. Now while Battlegrounds may be beneficial when you have high end upgraded units, you should really only stick with lower level battlegrounds if you want to come out ahead.
